Parallax Bipeds and Penguin Robot On the Cover of Servo Magazine December 2005 - Parallax's early biped prototypes and the new "Penguin" are featured on the cover of Servo Magazine with a winter theme, coupled with a two-page article about their evolution. The Penguin is a 3.5" tall precision-machined robot designed for desktop navigation. Parallax will offer 1,000 limited edition Penguin kits for purchase starting Q1 2006 in anodized blue, black, red or nickel color schemes. This mini robot includes a BS2px processor, HM55B digital compass, blue seven-segment LED, infrared emitters and detectors, photoresistors, speaker, and a socket for an RF receiver or Parallax Ping))) ultrasonic sensor. The body parts are made from 6061 aluminum, machined within a 0.001" tolerance, in red, blue, nickel or black.

The article is published several places, including Robot magazine, page 44, May/June 2009 issue 16 and included Humanoido's source code, notes, charts and diagrams. The article referenced the remainder information at Robot magazine's online web site for additional necessary project detail. However, tumultuous times internally at Maplegate, the publisher, led to both the magazine and web site's demise. When a new Robot magazine website appeared under new ownership, the Penguin information was deleted.

The Premier Edition is the first independent electronic magazine all about Penguin Robots, Basic Stamp microcontrollers, sensors, hobby projects, PBASIC programming, and fun projects! The first edition PT1 was published in January 2008. Each magazine was published initially on the Parallax Forum and included an index of topics. Following magazines of the quarterly journal included PT2, PT3 and PT4. Penguin Tech magazine was published in PDF format and included professional layouts. A magazine bonus were original software pbasic coded Penguin programs authored by Humanoido. All Penguin Tech magazines and code are still available from the author, in mint condition - Humanoido.

First Website for the Parallax Penguin Robot

This is a surviving front page of the world's first Penguin Robot website (named Penguin Bible) created by Humanoido. In March 2007, Humanoido began working on the first website for the Parallax Penguin Robot using FireFox and 50webs.com. It presented Penguin's first goldmine of information, including historical documents about Penguin, hardware port details for programmers, Humanoido's Penguin language addition, tips and techniques for assembling the Penguin kit of parts, and part one interview with the Penguin master and genius Ken Gracey of Parallax.

ABOVE & BELOW: Humanoido created the world's 1st private owned Penguin Robot Web site and continued to improve it with new and original Penguin Robot information dating back to 2005. In May 2007, the world's first private Parallax Penguin Robot website, invented by Humanoido, was refined with a gold mine of added content.

Humanoido, working with one of the first released nickel Penguin robots made available by the generosity of Ken Gracey at Parallax, enabled the creation of the world's first official Penguin Robot private website.

The refinement had many feather in the cap features, including a coveted interview with the Penguin Robot designer and genius Ken Gracey of Parallax. It introduced many experts and hosted the founding of the Penguin Robot Society on May 24th, 2007. It introduced the Penguin Robot programming work of Humanoido, including his invention of Penguinese Language giving the robot a written and spoken language, and plans for constructing a DIY Penguin robot version.

As the web site presented many articles which required formatting and presentation, it was soon decided to supplement the website with a new publication named Penguin Tech, authored by Humanoido. This magazine was packed with Penguin Robot information and was free for the the downloads. It included the author's PBASIC software for special Penguin personifications and projects. While pages from the website did not survive, the PenguinTach magazine did survive and all published issues are currently available from author Humanoido.
